Last weekend the VNM™ and I attended yet another wedding, this time his sister’s at a pretty vineyards near the Yakima area, and the weather could not have been more perfect (unless it had been a few degrees cooler, in the opinion of this long time Seattleite.)
We left Seattle early Friday evening, just in time to see a gorgeous rainbow assaulting the Eastside and start our trip off with a sense of awe (which can reportedly make you nicer, according to this recent article.)
We got in to Yakima a little late, but I had used my Full Circle produce box and a few odds and ends from my fridge to set us up with a quick healthy dinner (and even have some leftovers for breakfast the next day!)
He had to get up to the venue bright and early the next day for family photos, so I nibbled my way through the remaining fruit and got cuted up in the hotel by myself before he returned to pick me up and take me to the vineyard. We saw at least two other wedding parties/signs on our way there – people are definitely taking advantage of the early summer in Eastern Washington!
The weather was beautiful and warm and everyone was buzzing with happiness for the couple and the sound of the wedding favor fans pushing the warm air past our faces. The ceremony was mercifully brief and the reception featured potluck style homemade foods from friends and family. I had a great time chatting up one of the VNM™’s nephews that I had met when we had made our trip to Idaho and the introductions to most of the rest of his family went smoothly.
We had an early night and got packed up quickly the next morning to get on the road home at a decent time and after a stop at the Flag Pole Park in Cle Elum for a little picnic (this is becoming almost a roadtrip tradition, eh?) we hit up Dick and Jane’s Spot and then Winegar’s for ice cream in Ellensburg. Once we were sugared up we headed straight home and got in some good cuddle time with the kitties.
This weekend we’re going to the Seattle Scottish Highland games in Enumclaw (the VNM™’s family has been involved for over 30 years) - I’ve already got my plaid dress picked out!
